Peacevine Cherry Tomato seeds produce a large, deep red cherry tomato with a notably sweet, complex flavor and an exceptional nutritional profile. This indeterminate heirloom variety was deliberately bred by plant geneticist Alan Kapuler to carry elevated levels of vitamin C — making it one of the few tomatoes selected as much for its nutritional value as its taste. Fruits are round, glossy, and borne in generous clusters on vigorous, sprawling vines that keep producing until frost.
Peacevine reaches maturity in approximately 70 to 75 days from transplant. As an indeterminate variety, plants continue to set fruit throughout the season and will benefit from staking, caging, or trellising to keep them upright and productive. Start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date, planting seeds ¼ inch deep in warm, moist seed-starting mix. Soil temperature of 70–80°F (21–27°C) encourages strong germination within 7 to 10 days.
Transplant seedlings outdoors after all frost risk has passed, spacing plants 24 to 36 inches apart in rows 3 to 4 feet wide. Choose a site with full sun — at least 8 hours of direct light daily. Peacevine performs best in rich, well-draining soil amended with compost. Water deeply and consistently to prevent blossom end rot and fruit cracking; mulching around the base helps retain moisture and regulate soil temperature. Suitable for gardeners of all experience levels, this variety is vigorous and relatively forgiving.
Fruits are ready to harvest when fully red, slightly firm, and pulling cleanly from the stem — typically mid to late summer through the first frost. At peak ripeness, Peacevine cherry tomatoes deliver a sweet, rich flavor with bright acidity and a satisfying, juicy bite. The high vitamin C content makes them a nutritionally dense snack straight off the vine.
In the kitchen, they shine in fresh salads, bruschetta, and antipasto platters. Their natural sweetness deepens beautifully when roasted or slow-blistered in a pan with olive oil and garlic. Halved and tossed with pasta, they create a light, vibrant sauce without heavy cooking. For longer storage, Peacevine cherry tomatoes dry and dehydrate well, or can be preserved in olive oil.
A reliable, nutritionally intentional tomato with a genuine backstory — Peacevine rewards attentive gardeners with season-long harvests of fruit that are as good for you as they taste.
