Days to maturity: approximately 60–70 days from direct sowing. Gold Marie is a warm-season annual that thrives in full sun — aim for at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Sow seeds directly into the ground after all risk of frost has passed and soil temperatures have reached at least 15°C (59°F); beans do not transplant well. Plant seeds 5 cm (2") deep, spacing them 10–15 cm (4–6") apart in rows set 45–60 cm (18–24") apart. As a climbing variety, Gold Marie will reach 150–200 cm (5–6½ ft) in height and requires sturdy support — a trellis, bamboo teepee, or wire frame works well. Provide well-drained, moderately fertile soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0–7.0). Avoid overfeeding with nitrogen, which encourages lush foliage at the expense of pod production.
